Julie’s Presentation on Foods to Fortify and Boost Your Immunity

April 15, 2015 By Julie Lanford MPH, RD, CSO, LDN

For those of you who asked for the recording, here you go! I had a great time talking with the women at the conference and am thankful for the opportunity.

I had many come to ask questions and share their stories afterwards. One of my favorite comments was “this was the best nutrition talk I’ve ever heard.” I didn’t ask how many she had heard. I’ll just take it at face value. 🙂

I’ve also had quite a few new subscribers and followers on social media, so if you are new – WELCOME!

Nutrition and food have an important role in the lives of survivors, but it should not be something that increases anxiety or causes more stress than you’re already dealing with. Here is a recent note from a local survivor who watched online. It makes my heart happy and puts a smile on my face:

Julie, I just finished watching your talk and wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you! This June I will be a 3 year survivor of breast cancer. As you well know, it ihas been quite the journey from the moment of diagnosis to now. After treatment, when I started thinking about life style changes I needed to make, I was definitely an “anxious” eater. I thought soy was poison, reading the ingredients in products brought me to tears, since almost all contain some form of soy. That is just one of many things that made me incredibly anxious. I have always eaten rather healthy but since I started following you my diet is almost all plant based with little to no processed food. I feel good about the choices I make and when I do fall off the wagon, too much chocolate or that snack of Cheese It’s for example, I don’t panic. Last week I was blessed to go to Paris for vacation. I knew that I would pretty much be losing control of my diet for that time. I ate as well as possible and did not become anxious about it. I am glad to be home though and back in control of my diet. Julie, thank you again, you are an invaluable resource in my life! Ellen

Love. Love. Love!
