Survivor Cooking Workshop Recipes Dec 2018 Edition!

December 13, 2018 By Julie Lanford MPH, RD, CSO, LDN

On Dec 1st I hosted another Survivor Cooking Workshop with Chef Don from The Stocked Pot.

I love teaching these workshops because mostly I’m not teaching. I get to sit back and learn alongside everyone else. And of course, eat the delicious food that Chef teaches us how to make. It’s inspiring!!

The part I taught on is how to approach holiday eating without freaking out. The biggest take home from that is to ENJOY YOUR MEALS! There’s no need to talk about how “healthy” or “unhealthy” the food is. Just spend the time enjoying the company and all the amazing flavors of the foods that you only eat on occasion.

Remember… as I’ve said before, You’re SUPPOSED TO OVEREAT on Holiday meals!

Here’s your Dietitian Approved Permission to Overeat!

I also acknowledge that for people going through cancer treatment, it can be sad and frustrating when the foods that you typically enjoy around the holidays don’t taste right. Or maybe you don’t feel much like eating at all. In these cases, I encourage you to find ways to enjoy other holiday traditions.

For most of the time, Chef Don taught us our holiday-inspired recipes. And survivors even had fun participating in the cooking!

Ready for the recipes? Here you go! I hope you are as inspired as we were!
