Smart Food Choices, Power Foods, Food Anxiety and More!

November 25, 2019 By Julie Lanford MPH, RD, CSO, LDN

Did you know that I just had my 12 year blogiversary?? Since 2007, I’ve has written more than 500 articles on this site and I now have over 5,000 subscribers of her e-newsletter and over 10,000 social media followers.

Thank goodness for Cancer Services, Inc, the non-profit I work for. They embraced the site from my first day on the job and continue to make it possible for me to share info here AT NO CHARGE! Stay tuned for ways you can support our ongoing efforts!

Thank you to all my followers for your great questions, comments, stories and recipe ideas. I love hearing from you and getting to share evidence-based, common sense nutrition information!

I thought you might be interested in some of the articles I’ve written for other publications recently. You’ll find written articles and also a podcast interview with one of my favorite dietitians! Check them out and let me know what you think.

Having cancer can change how you see the world. You want to make the most of each day, you are more grateful for family and friends, and you ask yourself, “What can I do to be healthy during and after treatment?” I answer this question in Coping Magazine in my article titled ‘Smart Food Choices for Cancer Survivors.’

I recently became a contributor for the Advanced Breast Cancer’s website. Here are the two I have posted so far, with one additional one to come soon!:

  • Top Power Foods to Combat or Help with Side Effects where Julie discusses general tips to consider when combating the side effects of breast cancer treatment
  • Myths and Misconceptions: Diet, Nutrition and Advanced Breast Cancer part one of a series on diet, nutrition, and advanced breast cancer.

On the American Society for Clinical Oncology’s podcast I discusses Food Anxiety and Cancer with Debra Benfield! Find it on Cancer.net website. We discuss food anxiety before, during, and after cancer treatment, including potential causes and healthy ways to address food anxiety at any stage of treatment.

I’m also a regular contributor for Conquer magazine, which has been a great way for me to spread evidence-based nutrition information, providing positive nutrition, and myth busting. Check out my articles on their website, or in print!
