June Webinar, Cooking Class and Cancer Nutrition Q&A with Julie

June 5, 2020 By Julie Lanford MPH, RD, CSO, LDN

First of all, it’s important that I am clear about who I am and why I do what I do.

Cancer disparities is one of the big reasons I choose to be a dietitian located in a non-profit agency that does not charge for programs and services. Social determinants of health is a major problem that will take all of us working together to remedy. Racial discrimination is a social determinant of health.

I’m not ok with minorities and/or low income individuals having worse cancer outcomes than white and/or high income individuals. I advocate for equity in care, and that includes looking internally at my own biases and privilege.

The Cancer Dietitian website, podcast and educational programs would not exist and be available to you (at no charge), without the support of Cancer Services. Cancer Services is committed to providing care for all, regardless of race or socio-economic situation and we have zero tolerance for racial injustice.

Thank you for being part of a community that supports our work!
