Treatment Side Effect Recipes: Cooking Class Recipes and Recordings!

March 26, 2021 By Julie Lanford MPH, RD, CSO, LDN

Our March cooking class theme was Treatment Side Effect Recipes! In this class, we created three easy and quick recipes to make when your cancer treatment has created unpleasant side effects.

In the class, we discussed different side effects that cancer patients might experience during treatment and how the foods you eat can help those symptoms.

Here’s what we made:

Gingerbread Muffins

This muffin is super easy to make and it has one of the best-known flavors, ginger! Not only does ginger have a good flavor but it is also can treat nausea. This muffin recipe could be used as a snack or a cure to nausea due to your treatment! Try it out!

Snack Mix

This snack mix is another super easy recipe that could be used for a snack anytime of the day. This could also be a snack mix for any holiday or occasion throughout the year. The sweet and salty mix is an addiction for anyone and is a great option for caregivers to take to a cancer patients home!

Both recipes above, the Gingerbread Muffins and the Snack Mix came from the Eating Well Through Cancer Cookbook! This cookbook was created by Holly Clegg to help cancer patients with food ideas that will help them through their cancer journey.

The Eating Well Through Cancer Cookbook is an affiliate of Cancer Services. If you would like to purchase the cookbook below is the link to do so! This will not only benefit the cookbook and its creators but Cancer Services as well.

Protein Smoothie

Our final recipe is the protein smoothie. This is a great smoothie recipe that is quick and simple. It includes vegetables and protein to ensure that you are getting the nutrients you need. You should try this one out too!

This recipe uses Enu Nutrition protein products. Enu creates different nutritional products available for purchase. Cancer Services is also affiliated with Enu and below is the link. This link will allow you to order Enu products and support Cancer Services.
