Webinar Recording, New Recipes, Podcast Interviews

June 14, 2024 By Julie Lanford MPH, RD, CSO, LDN

A lot has been going on in the last month or so. I have enjoyed speaking to all the branches of the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA in my local area about nutrition for survivorship. I always cover my plant based eating for cancer survivors info , make them samples of The Best Smoothie Ever and of course, give out lots of recipe cards.

It’s so fun to get to meet survivors from all different areas around me!

In addition to traveling around my local area, I had the privilege of being interviewed on the Exam Room Nutrition podcast!

Episode 56: Ask the Dietitian: Cancer Nutrition Strategies
Episode 57: Ask the Dietitian: Cancer Survivorship and Nutrition

I also recorded with Colleen for episode 49: The Biggest Cancer Nutrition Myths!

Carbs Webinar

Did you miss my May webinar on carbs? Check out the recording here!

Topics covered include:

  • What are carbs?
  • Carbohydrate myths & truths.
  • Which carbs are the most nutritious?
  • How much carbohydrate do I need?

Nutritious Carb Recipes!

I owe a big THANK YOU to Dietitian Lora (formerly intern Lora!) and Dietitian Macie for doing all the hard work for the recipe samples and cooking class demonstrations we did this month! I love collaborating with other oncology dietitians! Here we are together!

Here are the recipes we demo’d in my June Cook to Thrive! They are all so delicious, easy and fun to share with others.

Overnight Oats

Here’s a funny story. Years ago my dad asked about different types of oats, so I wrote about them. Then he sent me a “toast to oats”. You can find that on the post as well!

Quinoa Tabouleh

Chocolate Avocado Pudding

I also shared the following recipes at our Annual Survivors Day celebration on June 1st. We had great feedback on these, and you can make the spinach dip as spicy, or not spicy as you want!

Spinach Dip

Easy Granola

Do you have suggestions for webinar topics or cooking classes? Let me know!
