Nourish & Thrive! Mindful Eating Kickstart

April 10, 2025 By Julie Lanford MPH, RD, CSO, LDN

Welcome to Nourish & Thrive: A Mindful Eating Journey for Cancer Survivors! I’m so glad you’re here. Over the next five weeks, we’ll explore how mindful eating can help you rebuild trust with your body, find joy in food again, and cultivate a sense of nourishment without guilt or restriction.

What to Expect: Each week, you’ll receive an email covering different aspects of mindful eating, including:

  • Understanding hunger and fullness cues
  • Practicing gentile nutrition: Breaking free from food guilt and restriction
  • Fueling with nutrient dense foods (without restriction)
  • Slowing down while eating to enhance enjoyment and awareness
  • Developing a balanced, non-judgmental relationship with food while respecting your body!

Before we begin, we’d love to learn more about where you are on your journey—your current relationship with food, any challenges you’re facing, and the goals you hope to achieve.

The program pre and posttest are part of a graduate research study through Virginia Tech University Nutrition Department in partnership with Cancer Dietitian (Cancer Services, Inc.) Julie Lanford.

Your responses will remain completely confidential and anonymous and results are only shared in academic writing. The data collected will be used solely for research and program improvement, and your identity will never be disclosed. The survey should take just 5–10 minutes to complete, and your participation is greatly appreciated!

This will not only help us tailor our support but also give you a way to reflect on your growth at the end of the series. Please take a few moments to answer the questions below.
