Many consumers have heard that they should eat a “Plant-Based Diet” but they are confused about what that means they eat from day to day. Whether a person wants to include meat or not in their plant-based diet, this handout gets to the key eating pattern that is known to benefit health. This focuses on foods as the best source of nutrition and encourages clients to evaluate their food choices based on how many plant nutrients they can fit on their plate! This educational tool encourages a positive relationship with food and provides tips to increase the consumption of plants, and decrease processed foods. This handout covers:
- Three key points regarding nutrition and cancer
- The plate guideline for plant-based eating
- A practical list of foods to include each day
- Suggested healthy plant-based eating “diet” plans
