Recipes From Yesterday’s Cooking Class

September 20, 2013 By Julie Lanford MPH, RD, CSO, LDN

Yesterday I had the privilege of being the speaker for a Lunch 'n Learn for Pearls of Empowerment in Davie County. We had 38 women and 2 men who attended my cooking demo - Fighting Cancer With Your Fork. I showed the participants how to prepare 3 cancer fighting recipes that incorporated cancer fighting foods. Here I am before the class started. It was a really great facility! What you can't see is the reverse mirror over my head, so that participants could see what I was doing … [Read more...]

Working in oncology means that I now see colors as "cancer colors". What drew me to this dress is that I needed more "colorectal blue" clothes. Just as my shopping buddy - it's literally what I said when I saw it on … [Read more...]

December 15, 2011 By Julie Lanford MPH, RD, CSO, LDN

Greetings! If you're like me, you like local stuff. Food, crafts, businesses, farmers. One of our clients (a regular reader of this website too!) referred to supporting Cancer Services as "Buying Local". I love it! Not only are we a local agency (no national or state-wide affiliations), but we had a local artist, Mike Foley, create an awesome short film about Cancer Services called: Facing the Boogie Man I've been known to watch it through a couple of times whenever I need a … [Read more...]
